Phone scammers posing as police issue warning.
Staff Report / StCharles
The St. Charles County Police Department has issued a warning about phone scammers pretending to be law enforcement officers. These scammers are using intimidation tactics to demand money for fake arrest warrants.
The scammers are claiming to be from the St. Charles County Sheriff's Office and using names like Deputy Quincy Whitaker or Lt. Gibbons. They tell victims that they have warrants and must pay a fee over the phone. Law enforcement officials do not demand money or arrange payments for warrants.
If you receive a call like this, do not fall for it. Report the scam to your local police department. Share this information to help spread the word and prevent others from becoming victims.
