Bend Police Holds Successful Drug Takeback Event
Staff Report / Bendlocal.org
Over the weekend, the City of Bend Police Department, in collaboration with St. Charles, held a DEA drug takeback event. During the event, 141 vehicles participated in dropping off unneeded medications. The collection resulted in a total of 322 pounds of medication and 75 pounds of sharps being gathered from the public.
The collected items will be disposed of safely to prevent misuse and contamination of the water supply. For those who could not attend the event, a prescription medication kiosk is available in the police department's lobby for the safe disposal of unused medications at any time during open hours. So far this year, nearly 500 pounds of prescriptions have been collected through the kiosk.
