Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings Cancelled

Staff Report / StCharles

St. Charles County Regional Emergency Management has announced that the Tornado Warning and Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the area have been cancelled.

Earlier, the National Weather Service in St. Louis issued a Tornado Warning for southeastern Lincoln County and northwestern St. Charles County until 10:15 PM CST. At 9:44 PM CST, a storm capable of producing a tornado was located approximately 5 miles south of Moscow Mills, near Wentzville, and was moving northeast at 30 miles per hour.

The warning indicated the potential for a damaging tornado, confirmed by radar. Residents were advised that flying debris could pose danger to those without shelter, and that mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed. Additional potential impacts included damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles as well as tree damage.

The tornado was projected to be near Wentzville around 9:45 PM CST and Moscow Mills around 9:50 PM CST, with other locations such as Flint Hill, Foristell, Old Monroe, and Foley also potentially affected.

Residents were advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building away from windows. Those outdoors, in mobile homes, or in vehicles were urged to seek the nearest substantial shelter to protect themselves from flying debris.
